Brian Bisignani Examines Banking Consolidation in Central PA in Guest Post for Central Penn Business Journal
In a September 10, 2015 guest blog post for the Central Penn Business Journal, Business & Corporate Chair Brian W. Bisignani looks at the potential positive and negative outcomes following a rash of recent regional bank acquisitions in Central Pennsylvania.
Mr. Bisignani notes:
"Without question, the local banking landscape is changing, with locally based banks being acquired by larger entities headquartered outside of the region.
It’s a trend likely to continue — especially given the significant compliance pressures and costs being imposed on smaller and community banks by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. One can look east to our neighbors in Allentown for evidence with the recently announced acquisition of National Penn Bancshares Inc. by a familiar face — BB&T."
