Bio
Beth Anne Jackson is a Principal in the firm's Health Care Practice Group and has focused her entire 25+ year career on advising providers on the transactional, compliance, and operational aspects of health care law. She counsels health care providers on the development and implementation of contracts, transactions, policies, and procedures to comply with federal and state health care regulations, including the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, peer review/HCQIA, PSQIA, HIPAA, EMTALA, corporate practice of medicine, bond covenants, and FDA and other regulations relating to the conduct of clinical trials. Her clients include hospitals and their medical staffs, ambulatory surgery centers, physician groups, other outpatient providers, and management services organizations.
From special transactions to day-to-day questions of “how can I do this” in the context of medical staff, physician contracting, employment, vendor, and other agreements and policies, Ms. Jackson helps clients address issues that impact the bottom line in ways that promote compliance without impeding the business of health care.
Ms. Jackson engages with her clients to understand their operations, competitive environment, business philosophy, and key priorities so she can advise clients on short- and long-term legal concerns. Her decades practicing health care law, representing non-profits as well as private equity companies, closely held businesses, and other corporate entities, and her prior experience running a physician’s office, provide her with a deep understanding of the economic, legal, and operational aspects of the health care marketplace. This includes the "big picture" issues at stake and the smaller details and implications of specific regulations, including changing reimbursement and health IT requirements.
Ms. Jackson is Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) and has been appointed by the Directors of the TBLS to the Health Law Advisory Commission for a term of three years beginning in May 2022. She is also an active member of the American Health Lawyer Association (AHLA).
Ms. Jackson is a frequent writer and speaker on issues of interest to the health care industry, including peer review, NPDB reporting, EMTALA, Stark Law, HIPAA, and a variety of other health care compliance and operational issues.
