Bio
Ian T. Baxter is a Principal in the firm's Casualty Litigation Department, representing clients in civil litigation before state and federal agencies and courts. Mr. Baxter's casualty practice focuses on liquor liability, products liability, and premises liability matters. His clients include individuals and businesses sued for civil damages associated with an alleged defective product; alleged over-service of alcoholic beverages to a patron at a bar or restaurant; or an assault, fall, or significant injury-causing event on a client property.
Additionally, Mr. Baxter’s practice includes the representation of school districts and other local agencies involved in litigation and subject to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act. Mr. Baxter has a detailed understanding of the statutes and applicable law and has extensive experience litigating in this area of the law. He authors and presents dispositive motions with regularity in state and federal courts.
As a member of the Firm’s Liquor Liability Practice Group, Mr. Baxter frequently represents bars, restaurants, clubs, and individuals in liquor liability matters in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition to litigation, Mr. Baxter counsels clients on applicable laws and standards and assists with post-accident investigations. He is certified by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) in responsible alcohol service.
In 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Mr. Baxter was named by his peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Star in the category of Personal Injury. In the 2024 and 2025 editions of The Best Lawyers in America's "Ones to Watch", Mr. Baxter was recognized in the category of Product Liability Litigation - Defendants.
