Ken Christman Joins Post & Schell as Counsel in the Firm's Energy & Utilities Practice Group

Philadelphia, PA – February 10, 2021 – Post & Schell, P.C. is pleased to announce that Kenneth W. Christman has joined the firm as Counsel in the firm’s Energy & Utilities Practice Group. Mr. Christman is resident in the firm’s Pittsburgh, PA office.

Mr. Christman has over 45 years of energy and utility industry experience, most recently serving as Assistant General Counsel for NiSource Corporate Services, one of the largest natural gas utility companies in the United States and a provider of electric distribution, generation, and transmission services. He served for 36 years in NiSource’s Legal Department and represented the company and its subsidiaries before state and federal regulatory bodies, including the state utility commissions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and Massachusetts. 

He was an integral member of the teams that oversaw major corporate transactions, including the sale of two gas distribution companies by NiSource and its predecessor, the Columbia Energy Group, and the spinoff of NiSource’s Columbia Pipeline Group.

Mr. Christman counsels and represents natural gas, utilities, and pipeline companies in regulatory proceedings before state and federal regulatory bodies, including the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PA PUC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). This includes matters involving base rate increase requests, pipeline safety, restructuring proceedings, renewable energy, and hearings involving regulatory approval of transactions. 

In addition to his tenure with NiSource, he also served on the in-house legal team for a statewide association of rural electric cooperatives and an affiliated electric generation and transmission company in Ohio. He is also the former Legal Director and Chief Hearing Officer for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).

Mr. Christman holds his J.D. from Ohio State University College of Law and received his B.A. in Political Science from Ohio State University.  He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, the Energy Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the American Gas Association.
