Paul Schmidt Presents on Legionella in the Long-Term Care Industry on PACAH Webinar on Oct. 29
On October 29, 2020, Paul M. Schmidt presented the webinar, "Legionella in Nursing Homes:
What are the Risks and What Can (or Must) Facilities Do About It," at 9:15 am. The webinar was presented to membership of PELICAN RRG, which provides professional liability and general liability insurance coverage, and is a sponsored program of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Affiliated Healthcare & Living Communities (PACAH).
The webinar provided nursing homes, and similar residential-style facilities, with the tools necessary to determine whether their operations may present a risk of serious Legionella infection and, if so, how they can evaluate and address that risk.
Mr. Schmidt covered:
- An overview of the Legionella problem and a history of serious incidents.
- How Legionella develops and is transmitted and why protocols to minimize COVID-19 transmission can increase Legionella risk.
- Regulatory obligations and best practices to control Legionella and respond to incidents.
- Tools for administrators and their staff to address Legionella risks at their facilities.
