Kelly L. Smith Appointed as Chair of Post & Schell's Toxic Tort Practice Group
Philadelphia, PA – February 16, 2022 – Post & Schell, P.C. is pleased to announce that Principal Kelly L. Smith has been appointed as Chair of the firm’s Toxic Tort Liability Litigation Practice Group.

James Johnston, President and Chief Executive Officer of Post & Schell, P.C. “Under Kelly’s stewardship, our Toxic Tort Practice Group will continue to grow and defend clients in mass and toxic tort litigation, including asbestos and benzene-related matters and litigation arising from occupational and environmental exposure to chemical and pharmaceutical products.”
Post & Schell’s Toxic Tort Liability Litigation Practice Group is comprised of experienced litigators that serve as National Coordinating Counsel and/or Regional “Local” Counsel for a wide range of clients in toxic tort matters through all phases of litigation and appellate claims. The Group also has extensive experience using alternative dispute resolution methods in these cases, such as mediation and arbitration. The Group’s attorneys represent a wide variety of clients, including employers, property owners, suppliers, small and medium-sized businesses, health care facilities, and self-insured entities.

Ms. Smith, who is based in the firm’s Pittsburgh, PA office, maintains a national litigation practice focused on general civil defense and toxic tort defense. Her clients include product manufacturers, product suppliers, contractors, premises owners, and employers. She participates in all phases of litigation in various jurisdictions and serves as National Coordinating Counsel overseeing toxic tort litigation throughout the country.
Over her more than 20-year career, Ms. Smith has secured successful outcomes in both the Pennsylvania Courts of Common Pleas and at the appellate level. She is highly involved with the portion of the Western Pennsylvania Bar handling asbestos litigation and regularly serves as lead defense counsel in cases in that area. She is a 1997 graduate of Duquesne University Law School and graduated cum laude from Ohio University.
