Post & Schell, P.C. Joins Marcellus Shale Coalition
PHILADELPHIA, PA – July 20, 2015 – Post & Schell, P.C. today announced that the Firm has joined the Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC).
Founded in 2008, MSC works with exploration and production, midstream, and supply chain partners in the Appalachian Basin and across the country to address issues regarding the production of clean, job-creating, American natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays. MSC provides in-depth environmental and economic information to policymakers, regulators, media, and other public stakeholders on the positive impacts responsible natural gas production is having on families, businesses, and communities across the region.
“Post & Schell shares the Marcellus Shale Coalition’s goals of finding the most environmentally sound and sustainable methods of producing natural gas from the Marcellus,” said Michael W. Gang, Co-Chair of Post & Schell’s Energy & Utilities and Marcellus Shale Practice Groups. “Our more than 30 years of experience representing public utilities, the gas industry, and land developers provide us with a unique perspective on balancing the extraction of clean, natural gas and new job creation, with the important regulatory and environmental concerns involved.“
“We look forward to working as an associate member of the MSC to find innovative solutions that address these concerns, and help everyone involved – workers, land owners, the public and consumers, the Commonwealth, utilities, pipeline companies, construction companies, and developers - benefit from an environmentally sound approach to natural gas extraction in the Marcellus.”
“The Marcellus Shale Coalition is pleased to welcome Post & Schell, P.C to our diverse group of supply chain associates,” said David Spigelmyer, President of the Marcellus Shale Coalition. “As a member driven organization that relies on the commitment and expertise of our members, we believe that Post & Schell will represent our industry in a highly professional fashion, and will bring a valued perspective that will help our members to grow and invest in the Marcellus and Utica shale regions.”
Post & Schell’s member representatives to the MSC will include attorneys from the Firm’s Marcellus Shale Practice Group, as well as the Firm’s Energy & Utilities, Environmental, and Construction Practice Groups.
The Firm provides a variety of legal services and counsel to clients involved in the natural gas industry, including utilities, pipeline companies, developers, and construction contractors. The Firm’s Marcellus Shale Practice Group’s breadth of experience translates into a broad understanding of the functions and operations of operators, both public utilities and their non-regulated affiliates, as well as those of pipeline operators and service companies.
The Marcellus Shale Practice Group also provides sophisticated, business-oriented environmental counseling across a wide range of transactional, regulatory and litigation matters to help clients manage environmental risks and liabilities, obtain environmental permits, comply with technical regulatory schemes, appeal and defend administrative actions, and seek judicial remedies. The Group represents pipeline companies and construction contractors in enforcement actions brought by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
